Jean-Louis Sarbib is the Board chair of the Nelson Mandela Institution and a Board Member of NOIPolls Limited and Chief Executive Officer of Development Gateway, an international nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to reducing poverty in developing nations by enhancing aid effectiveness, governance, and transparency through information technology.
Mr. Sarbib enjoyed a distinguished career at the World Bank, where he held several senior leadership positions. He served as Vice President for Africa, Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and later as Senior Vice President for Human Development, overseeing global programs in education, health, social protection, and HIV/AIDS.
Beyond the World Bank, he was Managing Director at Wolfensohn & Company and has contributed his expertise to numerous organizations. He currently serves on the boards of World Links for Development, Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, The International Center for Conciliation, and FXB International. He has also served on the boards of GAVI (the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization) and UNESCO’s International Institute for Education Planning, chaired the governing board of the UNESCO Institute of Statistics, and represented the World Bank at Head of Agency level on the UN-AIDS Committee of Co-Sponsoring Agencies.
Mr. Sarbib has been recognized with numerous honors, including a Lifetime Award for Diversity and Inclusion from the World Bank.
